Tot School: Bugs

Today at Tot School we learned about insects.  We read several great books including Bugs, Bugs, Bugs, The Icky Sticky Frog, and The Very Clumsy Click Beetle.  Our snack was “ants on a log” (celery, cream cheese & blueberries), gummy worms, and goldfish crackers (because fish eat worms). Our verse was 2 Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” and we did a coloring page to learn how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.  Our crafts today were clothespin click beetles and bandaid fireflies.  For fun and fitness we practiced moving like a bug.  We hopped like grasshoppers, crawled like spiders, wriggled like worms, flapped like butterflies, buzzed like bees, and rolled into a ball like a pillbug.  We enjoyed marching to “The Ants Go Marching” and dancing to “Bumblebee” (Lauri Berkner Band).  We sang “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee”.  An exciting activity we did was an outdoor bug hunt using magnifying glasses.  We found lots of bugs but the highlight was spotting an airplane with our magnifying lenses.
Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!
