Tot School: Animals

Today at Tot School we learned about animals.  We enjoyed playing with the Little People alphabet zoo and putting together foam animal puzzles.  We had fun doing animal yoga and dancing the “animal bop”. A fun craft activity we did was making animal puppets.  Our snack was animal crackers, cheddar bunnies, apple slices, and strawberries.

She made sure to circle EVERY 1 on the page :)

Tot School: St. Patricks Day

Today at Tot School we learned about St. Patrick’s Day.  We enjoyed playing the “Pot of Gold” shape game and learning how to stamp shamrocks out of heart shapes.  We painted the colors of the rainbow and practiced tracing shamrocks and recognizing our names.  A fun activity we did was helping Sean the Leprechaun find his letter and number coins outside.  We also read several great books including Green Eggs and Ham, Good Luck Bear’s Special Day, and S is for Shamrock.  We sang “I’m a Little Leprechaun” and “Six Green Shamrocks”. Our snack was limeade, celery, broccoli, kiwi, green apples and Lucky Charms cereal.

Tot School: Bugs

Today at Tot School we learned about insects.  We read several great books including Bugs, Bugs, Bugs, The Icky Sticky Frog, and The Very Clumsy Click Beetle.  Our snack was “ants on a log” (celery, cream cheese & blueberries), gummy worms, and goldfish crackers (because fish eat worms). Our verse was 2 Corinthians 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” and we did a coloring page to learn how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.  Our crafts today were clothespin click beetles and bandaid fireflies.  For fun and fitness we practiced moving like a bug.  We hopped like grasshoppers, crawled like spiders, wriggled like worms, flapped like butterflies, buzzed like bees, and rolled into a ball like a pillbug.  We enjoyed marching to “The Ants Go Marching” and dancing to “Bumblebee” (Lauri Berkner Band).  We sang “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee”.  An exciting activity we did was an outdoor bug hunt using magnifying glasses.  We found lots of bugs but the highlight was spotting an airplane with our magnifying lenses.
Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!
